York Entertainment Society - ABOUT US

Chris and Kathy Holbert

The York Christmas Parade has long been a staple of the Christmas season in York, SC. In 2018, the York Chamber of Commerce passed the production of the Christmas Parade to the Downtown Business Association. Under the leadership of Chris and Kathy Holbert, owners of The Divine Horse,  the parade was recognized as a huge success and the City of York asked Chris and Kathy to continue to produce this annual event.

Early in 2019, Leslie Mace, co-owner of Farm Chicks Vintage, joined the Holbert's to form The York Entertainment Society, whose primary focus is to preserve and manage the Annual York Christmas Parade Event.  This Non-Profit Organization has now grown to include other small business owners and citizens of the Greater York, SC area that all have the passion to give back to the community that we all live and work in.

Every other week the Parade Planning Committee meets to organize the events for Fund-Raising as well as the Annual Christmas Parade and Tree-Lighting.  The amount of time this group spends on planning and out-reach shows the love and passion that we have for our community and The City of York.  In addition to our Members, our committee is made up of volunteers from the City of York to include Mayor -  Eddie Lee,  Fire Chief - Domenic Manera, Lt Dale Edwards from YPD, Wanda Fowler from the Yorkville Historical Society and Debbie Dowling.  This photo represents just a small contingency that meets bi-weekly.

Throughout the year, the members of the York Entertainment Society are working to plan the upcoming parade. We are driving to bring in more Bands, Entertainment, more Panther Cheerleaders, and several huge (secret) surprises planned.  We are estimating that this year's production will set records for fund-raising as we look to make 12/6/19 a memorable night.

Fundraising is a huge factor in our ability to bring the town of York a parade you and your family will remember for years. Please try to help in any way you can.  Every little bit counts!  See our Fund-Raising Section for more details on how you can help.

In addition to parade sponsorships, there are several other fundraisers planned. They are the Summer Marketplace Anniversary Extravaganza, which was a huge success and brought over 1000 people into the downtown area. The fall YES/Hoof and Barrel Cornhole Tournament, scheduled for October 5th will be located at The Hoof and Barrel on North Congress St. There will also be a Christmas Parade T-Shirt Sale plus more activities will be forthcoming. See our Christmas Parade Info Page for more Details.
